Join Ken Jenkins, Brett Wells, and April Love in Western North Carolina for 4 days of exploring and capturing the beauty of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the waterfalls near Brevard and beyond. Incredible waterfalls and fall color....what's not to love???? We will meet at 4pm on Wednesday (location near the Hampton Inn that will be send out upon registration) for introductions and to map out logistics for the rest of the workshop. We will have a group dinner (provided by us!) immediately after our meeting on Wednesday. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we will spend the days out in the field, photographing at different locations and we will have photographic instruction while out in the field. We will have a wrap up session and image review on Saturday evening and will aim to finish by 7pm at the latest.
This workshop is for photographers of all levels and experience. Beginner to advanced, we love to work with everyone! The workshop is limited to a maximum of 15 participants so we can keep the instructor/participant ratio low. Participants should be able to walk easily on uneven ground. There will not be long hikes (generally no more than 1.5 mile, 3 miles round trip, to any location, although several are close to the road/parking area), but we will be in the mountains, so to quote one of my favorite t-shirts, "it ain't flat". Shooting along the BRP will not involve much, if any, hiking, however, the waterfalls are a different story. While they will not be long hikes, they do tend to be steep and due to the storms from the past year especially, there is probably a lot of blow down. We will leave it up to each individual how comfortable they feel on the given terrain. However, this workshop is probably not ideal for those with limited mobility. You don't need to be part mountain goat, but you do need to be steady on your feet and have good balance. We will need to carpool for the field sessions because parking is very limited in some of the places that we will be going, so we will need to have 3-4 people in most cars to keep the total number of cars to a minimum.
The investment for this workshop is $549 per participant. This does not include lodging or meals (except for dinner on Wednesday night...Brett is cooking!). Commercial transportation is not allowed in the Park, so we will be asking participants to carpool when we are in the field. We will make the Holiday Inn Express in Brevard, NC our home base. You will be able to make reservations online through their website (use the button above to access our group block) or by calling them. Cancellation Policy: Any cancellations before September 1, 2025 will receive a full refund minus a $20 administration fee. Cancellations between September 1st and September 15th will receive a 50% refund. After September 15th there will be no refunds available.
